A detail most guides skip: the astronomical equinox doesn’t always fall on the 21st. Depending on the year it can be March 20 or September 22 or 23. The custom uses the 21st as a symbolic date, so there’s no need to check an astronomy calendar.
Why people give yellow flowers: the Floricienta origin
Floricienta was an Argentine youth telenovela created by Cris Morena, premiered in 2004 and starring Florencia Bertotti. One of its best-known songs, "Flores amarillas", is about a girl waiting for her love to arrive with a bouquet of yellow flowers. In the story, those flowers are the sign that true love has arrived.
For years it was a generational memory. Then TikTok and Instagram revived clips of the show and the song, and the idea became a shared code: giving yellow flowers on September 21 as a gesture of affection.
