A virtual rose is a rose that opens on someone’s phone with a letter from you inside. You pick the color, type their name and your message, and send a link. They don’t install anything: they tap it, see the rose appear with their name, and then your letter writes itself out, as if by hand.
I’m Yohan and I make Rosify, so take this with that in mind. My rule is short. If you’ll see them this week, bring a real rose. If they’re far away, if it’s today and you’re out of time, or if what matters is what you want to say, send a virtual one with a letter.
What a virtual rose actually is
It isn’t a picture of a flower or an e-card with a stock message. Without your words it’s just a pretty image. With them, it’s a small gift that opens like one: first the rose and their name, then a button, then your letter.

Which color to choose (and what people actually pick)
We counted the rose colors people mention in their letters on Rosify. Of 1,563 letters that name one, this is how they split:

Yellow wins because of a Latin American tradition: giving yellow flowers on the first day of spring. The full story is in why people give yellow flowers. The surprise is that blue beats red. Real blue roses barely exist (florists dye them), so a virtual one is the only easy way to give one.
The reason people really pick a color
Flower guides talk about meanings. Real people mostly don’t. In 216 letters the sender explains the color the same way: «it’s your favorite color». A few real lines, translated from Spanish:
- «It’s purple because it’s your favorite color. Well, not your favorite, your favorite is green, but there are no green roses.»
- «They say yellow roses mean friendship, but that’s not why I chose it. I chose it because you said yellow is your favorite color.»
- «It’s black, like your favorite color, like that mystery of yours I like so much.»
- «Purple because it’s MY favorite color, haha, don’t judge.»
- «I wanted the rose to be your favorite color, but I was too shy to ask you directly.»
So if you know their favorite color, use it and say so. It tells them you were paying attention, which is more than any color chart can say.

What to write with it
Keep it short and specific. The typical letter on Rosify is about 100 words, and the ones people remember mention something only the two of you know: a nickname, a joke, the day you met. If you know their favorite color, start there: «I picked blue because I know it’s your favorite.»
